Areas of Practice

Commercial/Residential Real Estate Law representing homeowners, homebuyers and residential real estate lenders, through transactional real estate conveyancing.

Mr. Coluntino began his career working with consumers in bankruptcy and foreclosure defense. While working on consumer protection matters, he began to represent clients in short sales and quickly developed a passion for real estate transactions. During his consumer protection practice, he fought for hundreds of clients facing foreclosures and successfully helped these clients sell their homes and move onto the next chapters in their lives.

Building upon his consumer protection practice, Mr. Coluntino transitioned away from filing bankruptcies and focused on Commercial/Residential Real Estate Law representing homeowners, homebuyers, and residential real estate lenders, through transactional real estate conveyancing.

Mr. Coluntino prides himself on finding winning solutions on every transaction and leaving lasting impressions on his peers and clients and thrives on referrals from clients. Mr. Coluntino has worked on transactions of up to $37 million involving strategic tax planning and optimization and regularly represents sellers and buyers on more traditionally priced properties. Regardless of the size of the transaction, Mr. Coluntino’s personal attention, diligence and expertise are hallmarks of his practice.

More on Joseph Coluntino

Before beginning his legal career, Mr. Coluntino spent over a decade working in hands-on industries, within the electrical field and general construction, gaining a strong work ethic, adaptability, and problem-solving skills that continue to shape his legal practice today. While attending law school, he worked in restaurants where he sharpened his ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, skills that translate seamlessly to transactional law. Influenced early on by a trusted mentor in the legal field, Mr. Coluntino was drawn to the fast paced, detail-oriented nature of real estate conveyancing. He takes pride in guiding clients through the transactional process, aiming to make it as smooth and stress free as possible.

Mr. Coluntino often explains to clients that transactional law is inherently reactive. His philosophy is simple: “Let me manage the stress, it is my job to find solutions. They may not always be perfect, but there is almost always a way forward.” One of the core principles of transactional law is that there is always finality in real estate, which keeps the work dynamic and engaging. For him, accountability and transparency are the cornerstones of client trust. Recent matters handled by Mr. Coluntino include navigating a complex estate owned property sale with significant title challenges; securing an expedited closing route when standard options were unavailable; representing a client in a multi-tiered investment property acquisition involving assignment of contract, resulting in favorable financing and rehabilitation potential; and coordinating the sale of two Nantucket development properties to a single purchaser, streamlining an otherwise intricate transaction.

When Mr. Coluntino is not at the office, he spends his time on his road bike, boating, fishing, working on his Mustang, and with his family and friends.
